Notification Bar

Set up a personalization rule and trigger a simple Notification Bar at the bottom of the home page OR on all pages. Like a popup, a Notification bar is ideal for letting visitors know about special information like events or closings. Great for temporary information being displayed without editing the site. A Notification Bar maybe ideal to use instead of a popup because popups can be blocked and they are less intrusive on your visitors by comparison. Also, Notification Bars have a setting to display either on the home page or on all pages.

Please note the Notification Bar will only appear at the bottom of the site, this is due to responsive design and to assist in optimizing Core Web Vitals (loading and SEO).

Unlike popups which exist on their own like pages do, to Add a Notification Bar you need to create a Personalization Rule. Also, unlike popups these bars are simple text only items and you cannot add widgets or other content like images to them. However, you can add hyperlinks to the notification text.

To create a personalization rule:

  1. In the side panel, click Personalize.
  2. Choose an existing rule to edit OR choose build your own rule (recommended)
  3. Choose your Trigger, typically Time is recommended as the trigger
  4. For the Action choose Notification Bar
  5. Enter your message and choose your text and background colors
  6. Click Settings under your message to see the Display On and other settings. For School Closing it may be ideal to set it for All Pages.
  7. Click next to proceed through the steps.
  8. At the end of the process and steps be sure to name your rule and choose publish now when saving.
  9. You can preview the popup by putting the site in Preview Mode (top right) and then Select your rule (from the top left side).
  10. Lastly be sure to click the Republish button.

If you are having trouble viewing your notification bar on your live website. Try the following:

  • Double check your Trigger and ensure the settings are such that the rule is live like the start and end date/time
  • Double check the action is set to Notification Bar and correct pages like your home page or on all pages.
  • Click the republish button on your website.
  • Try clearing your browser cookies and cache
  • Try using another browser, device, or an incognito window.
  • Lastly, if necessary try deleting the rule, then adding a "new build your own rule" and republishing.
