Notification Bar

Set up a personalization rule and trigger a simple Notification Bar at the bottom of the home page OR on all pages. Like a popup, a Notification bar is ideal for temporarily letting visitors know about special information like special reminders. Great for temporary information being displayed without editing the content of your site, instead you create and edit a rule. A Notification Bar maybe ideal to use instead of a popup because popups can be blocked and they are less intrusive on your visitors by comparison. However, unlike popups they are just simple text, it makes them better suited for reminders, rather than promoting a special event. Also, Notification Bars have a setting to display either on the home page or on all pages. 

Please note the Notification Bar will only appear at the bottom of the site, this is due to responsive design and to assist in optimizing Core Web Vitals (loading and SEO). Rules will only trigger for the same user once every 30 minutes, or until they clear their browser cache, even if that user still meets the trigger requirements.

Unlike popups which exist on their own like pages do, to Add a Notification Bar you need to create a Personalization Rule. Also, unlike popups these bars are simple text only items and you cannot add widgets or other content like images to them. However, you can add hyperlinks to the notification text.

To create a personalization rule:

1. In the side panel, click Personalize.
   
2. Choose either an existing rule to edit OR choose Build Your Own rule (recommended) 
   
   
3. For your Trigger, typically Time is recommended as the trigger. 
   
4. Click next and set the date(s) and time when the bar will be active. Uncheck All Day to set a specific time. Click Change End Date to set and end date (to run the rule multiple days).
   
   
5. For the Action choose Notification Bar. This will display a color bar with text on the bottom of your site during the trigger time. 
   
6. Enter your message and choose your text and background colors. Be sure to select high-contrast colors. 
   
7. Click Settings under your message to see the Display On and other settings. For School Closing it may be ideal to set it for All Pages.
   
8. Click next to proceed through the steps.
9. At the end of the process and steps be sure to name your rule and choose publish now when saving.
10. You can preview the rule by clicking the Preview Button in the Personalize panel where the rules are displayed.
    
11. Lastly be sure to click the Republish button.
