RediSite: PlusPortals Calendar

Your school calendar events can be displayed on both PlusPortals as well as RediSite. By managing calendars in PlusPortals, you have the option to manually add events or import them from a Google Calendar or MS Outlook. These calendar events can then be set up to automatically update your RediSite. For more details on managing calendars in PlusPortals, please refer to PlusPortal Calendar .

For information about sharing calendars skip to the bottom of this article.

Calendar events can be displayed in up to four locations. The locations can include:

  1. Inside the Portal (on the user's Home Page)
  2. On your portal login page

Calendar events only display here if your school has selected to use the Home Page option under miscellaneous. See Customize the PlusPortals Home Page for more information.

  3. On your school's RediSite website (IF your RediSite design opted to include it)
  4. Calendar on the ParentPlus Mobile App

See ParentPlus Portal Mobile App: View Your School's Calendar Events for more information.

Every school website is customized, including the option to show calendar events from your PlusPortals, with variations in where they may appear. If your calendar events are not visible on your website and you would like them to be, please contact us at support@rediker.com with any questions.

Alternately, your events can instead display directly from Google using the Google Calendar Widget. Or embedding a Google Calendar using an HTML widget.

No matter how the events are added and displayed on RediSite, please review the PlusPortals Calendar Feed Settings, and update the Start and End Dates appropriately. These date settings should be updated at the start of each year as part of the New Year Process if you are a PlusPortal and RediSite customer.

Displaying Events on the RediSite

As you design and set up your RediSite, Rediker will automatically manage the integration and configuration of the widgets that display your events from PlusPortals. We use a specialized widget called the Calendar+ widget, which can present events in either a Calendar or List View.

Calendar View

This Calendar view allows some customization like number (#) of events to show on the day, color, and size of text, as well as many other settings.

On Mobile devices the Calendar+ widget will always default List View.

List View

This view allows for some customization like number (#) of events to show on the day, color, and size of text, as well as other settings.

Options for Sharing School Calendars

The Redisite platform does NOT act as your calendar application nor does it provide live sharing feeds of calendars to other platforms and applications, other than individual events (details below). For sharing your school calendar please review the options below.

Using the Calendar's Source/Platform Sharing Options (Google/Outlook; Recommended)

If the school uses Google or Outlook as the source for your school's calendar, those platforms already offer sharing options (HTML, ICS, or ICAL etc.). You would need to review and follow the prescribed options provided by those platforms.
Any Links (HTML, ICS, or ICAL) offered from those platforms can be shared and provided on the website (including in the Calendar+ Widget).

The ParentPlus APP (Recommended)

If using the PlusPortals calendar as the source of your calendar or if you have configured a calendar feed from Google or Outlook in your Portal, then Parents already have this option provided via the provided app. See this article for details - https://support.rediker.com/en/support/solutions/articles/14000148613-parentplus-portal-mobile-app-view-your-school-s-calendar-events

PlusPortals ICS Export

Your parents, students, and staff can download/export events from within PlusPortals as an ICS file (snap shot/not live). Which can be added to other calendar applications.

Individual Events

The RediSite Calendar+ Widget does provide an ADD option for individual events when in List View. From the website, visitors can chose to add an event to their device calendar. Clicking on an event (in mobile view) displays an Add to Calendar option.
