Manage Class Files

The followings topics describe the tasks related to creating and managing class files:

Add a File to a Class

You can share files with students by adding them to your Class page and notifying students via email.

Note: To add a file by copying it from another class, see Copy a File.

To add a file to a Class page, follow these steps:

  1. On the Hometab, click the class you want to add the file to.

  2. On the Overview tab, scroll down to the Files panel, click Add New, and select the file location.

    or

    On the Section Menu, click the Resources tab. On the Files panel, click Add and select the file location.

    Important: You only see the Resources tab if your PlusPortals administrator has enabled it.

  3. Select the file you want to add.

Important: The file size limit for attachments is 50 MB. The Add Class File dialog box opens with the file displayed under File Name.

Type a description for the file.

Select the folder you want to save the file to by doing one of the following:

  • Select a folder in the Select Folder drop-down list.
  • Create a folder by clicking New, typing a Folder Name, clicking Save, and then selecting the new folder in the Select Folder drop-down list.

Tip: To edit a folder name or delete a folder, see Edit or Delete a File Folder.

Select the check boxes for each section of the class you want to add the file to.

Select the check box to send an email notification to students and/or parents. (See Automatically Send E-mail Notifications.)

  1. Click Save to save the file to the class, and then click OK.


To view the file in the Files panel, select the appropriate folder in the Files panel drop-down list.

 


Copy a File

You can copy a file from a class the previous year or from a class in the current year. You can also copy a file from another section of the same class.

Note: To add a new file to a class, see Add a File to a Class.

Copy a File from the Previous Year or from Another Class in the Current Year

To copy a file from a class in the previous year or another class in the current year, follow these steps:

  1. On the Home tab, click the class you want to copy the file to.
  2. On the Overview tab, scroll down to the Files panel, and click Add from Library.

    or

    On the Section Menu, click the Resources tab. On the Files panel, click Add > From Library.

    Important: You will only see the Resources tab if your PlusPortals administrator has enabled it.

Add a file from a previous year's class or from another class this year.

Select the class that contains the file you want to copy.

View the files associated with the class. Select the check box next to the file you want to copy.

Filter items in a column by clicking  . Change the order of items displayed in a column by clicking the column heading.

Navigate between pages.

Customize the number of items displayed on the page.

Select the check boxes for the class sections you want to add the file to.

  1. Click Next, and then Yes to confirm.


Copy a File to Another Section of the Same Class

To copy a file from another section of the same class, follow these steps:

  1. On the Home tab, click the class that contains the file you want to copy.
  2. On the Overview tab, scroll down to the Files panel.

    On the Section Menu, click the Resources tab.

    Important: You will only see the Resources tab if your PlusPortals administrator has enabled it.

  3. In the Files panel drop-down list, select the folder that contains the file you want to copy.
  4. Click next to the file. The Copy Files dialog box opens.
  5. Under Copy to the Following Sections, select the check box for the class you want to copy the file to and click Copy.

 


Edit Settings for Posted Files

You can edit settings for files posted to a Class page by following these steps:

  1. On the Home tab, click the class that contains the file you want to edit.

  1. On the Overview tab, and scroll down to the Files panel.

or

On the Section Menu, click the Resources tab, and then locate the Files panel.

Important: You will only see the Resources tab if your PlusPortals administrator has enabled it.

  1. In the Files panel drop-down list, select the folder that contains the file.
  2. Click next to the file and edit the settings in the Edit Class File dialog box.
  3. Click Save, and then click OK.

Delete Files from a Class

You can delete files posted to a Class page using the following steps:

  1. On the Home tab, click the class that contains the file you want to delete.

  1. On the Overview tab, scroll down to the Files panel.

or

On the Section Menu, click the Resources tab, and locate the Files panel.

Important: You will only see the Resources tab if your PlusPortals administrator has enabled it.

  1. In the Files panel drop-down list, select the folder that contains the file you want to delete.
  2. To delete one file, click , or to delete multiple files, select their check boxes and click Delete.
  3. Click Yes when prompted to confirm the deletion, and then click OK.

 


Create a Folder for Files

You can create folders to organize the files you add to your class page.

To create a file folder, follow these steps:

  1. On the Home tab, click the class you want to add the folder to.

  1. On the Overview tab, scroll down to the Files panel, and click Add New > My Computer, Google Drive, or OneDrive (Personal).

or

On the Section Menu, click the Resources tab. On the Files panel, click Add > My Computer, Google Drive, or OneDrive (Personal).

Important: You only see the Resources tab if your PlusPortals administrator has enabled it.

  1. Double-click any file to open the Add Class File dialog box.
  2. Next to the Select Folder drop-down list, select New.
  3. Type a name for the folder, and then click Save.

 


Edit or Delete a File Folder

You can edit or delete file folders using the following steps:

Important: You cannot delete the default Class folder and folders containing files.

  1. On the Home tab, click the class that contains the file folder you want to edit or delete.
     
  2. On the Overview tab, scroll down to the Files panel and click Add New > My Computer, Google Drive, or OneDrive (Personal).
    or
     
    On the Section Menu, click the Resources tab. On the Files panel, click Add > My Computer, Google Drive, or OneDrive (Personal).
     

Important: You only see the Resources tab if your PlusPortals administrator has enabled it.

  1. Double-click any file to open the Add Class File dialog box.
  2. In the Select Folder drop-down list, select the folder you want to edit or delete.
  3. Do one of the following:
  • Click Edit, make your changes to the folder name, and then click Save.
  • Click Delete, and then click Yes when prompted to confirm the deletion.
  1. Click Cancel to close the dialog box.
