Enable New Year Transition Mode - Hide Scheduling Information

When a school wants to hide all student scheduling information such as which courses they are taking, New Year Transition Mode can be turned on. This will allow Parents/Students/Teachers to still have access to login to PlusPortals while hiding which courses a student has been assigned. New Year Transition Mode is typically used when the Scheduling Year has been switched to the Active year, but student schedules have not yet been completed. It can also be used when grades have not yet been finalized.

When New Year Transition Mode is enabled:

  • The Homeroom field on the student and parent Demographics tabs is still visible. If you would like to hide this as well:
    • Click Permissions, and then click Students. Scroll down to Demographics, clear the Homeroom check box, and then scroll to click Save Settings.
    • Click Permissions, and then click Parents. Scroll down to Demographics, clear the Homeroom check box, and then scroll to click Save Settings.
  • Scheduling information is hidden from admin users logging in as a student or parent, mirroring what students or parents see when they log in.

You can log in as a student or parent by clicking next to a user on the Students or Parents tab of the Manage Accounts page.

  • Teachers can still view their students' current scheduling information on the Students tab.

  • Group heads can still view group members' current scheduling information in their student details.

To enable New Year Transition Mode, do the following:

  1. On the navigation bar, click Manage Accounts, and then click Settings.
  2. Under New Year Transition Mode, for every user group for whom you want to activate New Year Transition Mode, click the Active for [user] toggle to switch it to Yes.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select Save.

When New Year Transition Mode is set to Yes for Teachers, this will also remove access to viewing gradebooks on TeacherPlus Gradebook.

This will not prevent those with access to the GBAdmin username from seeing courses. This is an admin account that will always have full access. For any additional Admin Accounts, you can choose to remove Access Rights to view Gradebooks:

  • While logged in to PlusPortals, the Gradebook option will be missing from the header:

  • When a teacher tries to login directly to their account on the TeacherPlus Gradebook site, then will receive a message and they will not be able to enter their user credentials:
